vote

I voted today.

I drove into the public school, well I actaully parked the car in the parking lot.
Then I made my way to the gym, where the polling stations were setup.

I registered myself, because I wasn’t registered before. Then headed off to the box where I’m supposed to put my ballot. The lady there handed me the ballot, it was folded. While she was explaining to me what I was supposed to do, I started doing what any other normal human being would do with a folded piece of paper, I started to unfold it. I was quick told not to do so in front of them. It’s my first time I told them. I had to go to this place where I could vote without anyone seeing who I vote for. So I did. I came back and put my vote in the box.

All done, my first time voting for anything political.
I changed my decision, I posted a few days ago that I would vote liberal in hopes of ousting the PC MP in my riding. But then that would be really throwing my vote away, if I didn’t vote for who I wanted to vote for. I wanted to vote for someone, not against someone. So I voted NDP. I don’t care if the PC candidate wins again here as long I gave my vote to the party I wanted to.

Now when I see the tabulated results in my riding, the number beside the candidate I voted for will include my vote. that’s neat.

debate

the debate of the provincial party leaders was on today at 6:30PM. I was able to catch most of it, except the last bit.

I would really like to vote for the NDP, but I know for sure they’re not going to win. But I still would out of principle like to vote NDP. But my riding is PC, and if I vote liberal and it’ll help oust the PC member (who is an alumni of my former high school) I’ll do it.

So liberal it is. Buddy Dalton there seemed prepared for this debate, spoke confidently and didn’t stutter as much as he did in the 99 debate. Ernie sounded boring and if he was the only one there, he’d put everyone to sleep. Howard there kept reiterating how Dalton and Ernie were so much alike, he mentioned it one time too many, for my liking anyway. Howard Hampton didn’t do such a good job of looking into the camera and speaking, his eyes kept wandering and he was stuttering more than anyone else (atleast the parts of the debate I saw).

As much as I would like a 10% decrease in tuition fees and what not, I know the NDP will not win. As my friend Kevin said, we needs a gradual change towards the left. And voting Liberals will get us a step towards that direction. If the Liberals win this time, my next vote will most definately be NDP, unless I do an about swing and become right-wing…

time

good thing I saw my last post, or I may not be blogging right now…

it’s funny how my the last three posts on this blog have all been 5 days apart…

I don’t feel my age… I feel as if I was 15 or something…
just yesterday I was 15, and then all of a sudden 5 years later I’m 20… how does that work???

I feel like saying totally random things, and so I will…

it’s been a week since the start of school, things are going to get harder. When they say first year is the hardest because of the adjustment and it gets easier, they lied. It gets harder as it goes on. The material gets harder, and I get dumber. Atleast I was able to sell of some of my textbooks, specially of the courses I didn’t like…

my movie watching streak continues, and I have yet to review a whole bunch. I’ll get to that, for those of you who still come to this blog and don’t know about the movie blog, here’s the link: movie blog. I hope you find the reviews helpful, and there will be more.

I bought the Shawshank Repemption DVD recently, good movie. I would give it a 10/10 if I were to review it…

Groucho Marx movies should be much more accesible, it’s a shame that the closest rogers video doesn’t carry any.

I find it interesting that atleast 4 different people have called me cynical in the past few weeks… so much so that I had to look up it’s meaning again. Just to make sure it was me. I didn’t see my picture there, so I had to read all the meanings…

1. Believing or showing the belief that people are motivated chiefly by base or selfish concerns; skeptical of the motives of others:
that’s not me…

2. Selfishly or callously calculating:
grin, perhaps…

3. Negative or pessimistic, as from world-weariness:
this could be true, although I’m not a negative person, nor am I a pessimist.
I am sick and tired of the garden of self-righteousness, half of it is filled with people against self-righteousness who’re too blind too see their own self…
I have been feeling fatigued myself, that’s because of my two week trip.
flew in 9 different aircrafts of 3 different airlines, and was in 7 different countries in them two weeks. Then I came back and played basketball (after 4 months of no such intense activity) and football the day after… and I’d play again damn-it, but my muscles and too sore… but I’d still play… see I’m not a pessimist…

4. Expressing jaded or scornful skepticism or negativity:
okay, I admit I’ve taken a laid-back attitude recently… the “yeah, whatever” attitude, the “who cares?” attitude and the “so what?” attitude… but I’m feeling good and happy, so that has to count for something right?

I hate junk mail… both via snail mail and e-mail…

I’ve been trying to be funny lately, even if that means that I come out looking like a fool. I think that’s working well for me… hah…

met Uzer

Alhamdulilah I got to meet Uzer, albeit for a short time.

‘twas fun, inshallah I’ll be seeing him again next year.

Ahem, I will provide details if someone leaves a comment showing interest. heh.

These details includes , among various things Uzer’s description as he was when I met him and his hostel room (the contents, and overall look).

Pakistan

Okay so here I am in Karachi, Pakistan. The country where everybody trusts everybody, except for everybody.

It’s been very hectic since there’s so many places to go, banks, stock exchange place, hospital etc etc… Only 3 days!

I may or may not get to meet Uzer. I hope I do.

So everyday when I come back home, I have to peel off the layer of pollution on my face. If you breathe with your nose, you can smell the pollution, and if your mouth is open you can taste it.

Kudos to the folks who came up with the Green Bus idea and kudos to those who make it work. A pollution free ride to wherever you are going. Amen.
I’ve yet to ride the oh so colourful busses. I don’t intend to either.

I would be able to do more stuff had I more time. But that’s the way the world turns.

no kidding

When I said I was a world blogger, I wasn’t kidding.

Just in the past 4 days I’ve blogged from : Toronto, London and Riyadh.

This post in coming from Sharjah, UAE.

And soon I’ll blog from Pakistan, inshallah.

Anyway, just thought I’d drop this note.
